Meet Nomalanga Tshatsha, the Youth Placement Program Manager who manages the internship program designed to support the Province’s commitment to empowering young people. The primary objective of this program is to provide unemployed youth in Gauteng with on-the-job skills development and training opportunities at different host companies.
The Youth Placement Program offers a twelve (12) month placement opportunity for unemployed youth with an annual intake of 100 young people as per the Gauteng Enterprise Propeller’s APP target.
The recruitment process commences once the unit receives its budget allocation, with a particular focus on graduates in fields of study required by the host company.
Selected interns undergo induction which takes place on the day of contract signing. As a Program Manager, Nomalanga prides herself with seeing Gauteng youth acquire on-the-job skills, making them more attractive to future employers.
Nomalanga Tshatsha has further highlighted plans to expand the program by increasing participant intake and duration subject to a budget allocation increase. The program is aligned to Gauteng’s developmental agenda, seeing the youth learn new skills that match their qualifications and gain work experience that will propel their future careers.
